Description During the 1980s, Eastern Germany started producing quite large quantities of personal computers, mostly to meet local demand. Because the East-German currency could not be exchanged into US$, it was impossible to buy MS-DOS licences. So, the East-German computer manufacturer "VEB Robotron" developed a MS-DOS clone named "DCP" which is fully compatible with MS-DOS, very stable and features some interesting improvements. The development was officially continued until 1990, and at least DCP 3.20 runs on any x86-machine. Because Robotron was owned by the state and delivered computers only to other state institutions, the software they developed was never copyrighted. There are several internet sites where DCP is offered for free download.
Development Status Development was discontinued in the early 90s.
