Linux : Opinions : 10 Things a new Linux user needs to unlearn
Posted: ( Sat 21st Oct 2006 05:21:41[PM] UTC )
OK, you have Linux on your computer. Maybe you had some trouble getting it installed and everything working (probably wifi if I had to guess, or a winmodem), but you are past all that, everything is working, and you are ready to start using the computer. Old habits die hard, so hopefully this list helps you get over them.

Linux : Articles : The new table of analogs of Windows software in Linux
Posted: ( Sat 21st Oct 2006 05:20:25[PM] UTC )
One of the biggest difficulties in migrating from Windows to Linux is the lack of knowledge about comparable software. Newbies usually search for Linux analogs of Windows software, and advanced Linux-users cannot answer their questions since they often don't know too much about Windows :). This list of Linux equivalents / replacements / analogs of Windows software is based on our own experience and on the information obtained from the visitors of this page on English, Russian, Italian, Spanish, French & German.

Linux : Howtos : How to get widescreen resolution in Linux?
Posted: ( Sat 1st Jul 2006 05:26:07[PM] UTC )
If you own a laptop with widescreen resolution such as 1280x768, 1280x800 or with a high resolution such as 1400x1050, you might have encountered that problem. XWindow shows up in 1024x768, and it doesn't fill the entire width of the screen. If your laptop's graphic card is an Intel 800 or 900 series (Intel 845G, 855G, 865G, 915G, 915GM, and 945G), there is a very easy solution to fix this.

NetBSD : Links : Recording CDs and DVDs with NetBSD
Posted: ( Wed 14th Jun 2006 04:30:27[PM] UTC )
I have made some notes regarding NetBSD and CD/DVD-recording that I thought I would share with the world. Not that there is anything terribly complicated or advanced involved, it's all quite straight forward. But since I've already made notes on how to do some of the more common things, I thought I would share them.
