Multiple local XFree users under Linux
"My idea is to have two instances of XFree86. The first will be using a normal XFree86 server, it will initialize the main video card and attach it to a VT. It will also use the standard system AT keyboard and something (PS/2, serial, USB emulated as PS/2, whatever you want) as a mouse. The second instance of XFree will be my modified X server."

Sun shines on Linux too!
How does Sun perceive Linux? As competition or does Linux compliment Sun?
We really think Linux is a good thing. The combination of Linux and the Internet have changed things completely. Linux and the Internet fill a whole new growth and space of Unix. From a user's perspective Linux is Unix, just as BSD is Unix and we basically grew up on BSD.
SuSE, Czech localization, and an odd licensing twist
"A few weeks ago, SuSE Czech created the Czech localized version of StarOffice. The most interesting fact about it is, that you can distribute the message catalogs and other parts of it freely, you can even use it freely, as long as you use it under SuSE Linux only. The localization itself, of course, works on other distros without problems. You just cannot use it legally."

Linux in 2001
"But I think that 2001 will be an important one in the evolution of Linux, and that there are a number of trends that bears some watching in the coming months. We are on the brink of an important transitional period for Linux, as it moves from the grungy garage to the corporate IT department."
Pushing the limits of IRC
"The network stack in the 2.4 kernel handles massive amounts of client connections better than anything we have tried. 38000+ users on a $500 box is pretty impressive to me! Also, its handling of denial of service attacks has shown itself to be better than other operating systems."
